Lady Gaga, music, news and politics speech, and former child stars

Lady Gaga is BACK! YAY! I know Lady Gaga isn't to everyone's tastes. She's a little quirky, odd, weird, *insert more adjectives*, but I think she's great. I never used to like a lot of pop music, but now I've found that as I've gotten older my tastes have changed dramatically. Some music is just too damn catchy, no matter how much you love System of  a Down and Korn. I think it's great to have a broad taste in music, as restricting yourself to one genre pretty much limits your ability to understand music as a whole. At the moment I'm listening to 'Once More With Feeling' the compilation album of Placebo singles from 1996-2004. I love Placebo. However, after this I'll probably listen to The Cure, or maybe Mumford and Sons. I love music, and it doesn't matter what genre it is, I'll listen to it as long as it has meaning (although I prefer actual images over digitalised sound).

At the moment I am attempting to write a speech for my News and Politics music. I say attempting because so far over the past two hours I've only managed to change my facebook 'about me' section, download 'Applause' by Lady Gaga, and 'Acapella' by Karmin. Now I'm listening to Outkast. So yeah, my speech just doesn't seem to be writing itself. I don't mind writing speeches or public speaking. A while ago I wrote a few speeches advocating the use of the death penalty in America for a client, and I found that really easy. I didn't agree with the topic, but I found I could remove my own feelings and imagine myself in the shoes of the speaker. Writing comes naturally to me, and I am completely fine with public speaking, although now I think I am just a little bored of the subject, and there's not a whole lot of information to gather ideas from. The topic is 'What the government has done so far to increase interest in politics and how implementing politics and how implementing politics as a compulsory subject would be beneficial?' I have a whole lot of notes, and I know exactly what I'm going to say in dot point form, but I just can't bring myself to write the damn speech! It's just kind of boring. I'd rather download music.

I've started watching the TV show 'Californication'. It didn't really appeal to me when I would see the advertisements for it on TV, but now that I've started watching it I really like it. I was surprised to see Madeleine Zima in it. For those who don't know who she is - remember the little girl from The Nanny? - well you see all of her in the show. All. Of. Her. It's just weird because every time I look at her I see Grace Sheffield. Odd. But everyone grows up, don't they? Many child actresses quit the job altogether, like Mara Wilson. Remember Matilda? Mara is 26 now, and a writer. I think many people can't shake off the image of former child stars. I can imagine many people still see Grace Sheffield when they see Mia Lewis. Kind of weird when you see her boobs bouncing around like a bag of oranges.

I'm not against child stars growing up and evolving, but it's just kind of odd. Like looking at pictures of your sister as a child, then as a teenager in provocative clothing. Or finding out your grandma was a swimsuit mode, like in 'That's my Boy.'

The photo of the day is.....*da da da daaaaaa*

'We're the Millers'. Hilarious movie. Go and see it right now!
